As a food reviewer, I had the pleasure of trying some of their signature dishes, and I must say, I was impressed. The Carne Asada Bowl was a standout for me, with perfectly seasoned seitan meat, rice, beans, and pico de gallo. The flavors were bold and satisfying, making it a must-try for any plant-based food enthusiast.
Aside from the fantastic food, the atmosphere at Sugar Taco is lively and welcoming. The colorful decor and Dia de los Muertos-inspired vibe add to the overall dining experience, creating a fun and festive ambiance.
Overall, my experience at Sugar Taco was delightful, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and flavorful dining experience. Whether you're a vegan, vegetarian, or just looking to try something new, Sugar Taco has something special to offer.

I watched "You Are What You Eat" recently on Netflix and this totally changed my whole outlook on the over consumption of meat, in addition to the health benefits of a plant based diet. As a result, because I am leaning now more towards a plant based diet I find myself coming to Sugar Taco more. I have only been here twice, and each time I have ordered something with carne asada. I highly recommend their carne asada bowl -- which is perfect amount for lunch and comes with rice, beans, pico de gallo and chunks of flavored seitan meat. They garnish the bowl with a few chips which is a perfect touch. I also appreciate how they provide your own pitcher of water!! The interior decor of Sugar Taco has a "Dia de los muertos " type of vibe with all the bright vivid colors, skulls, flowers, etc... The restroom appeared abandoned last time I was there and the toilet definitely needed attention for many different reasons! But I will def return in near future to try other vegan options!

Tried this place over the weekend. Love that it's a vegan place, not very common for tacos. Got the 3 taco plate as recommended by the girl at the counter (carne asada, potato and fish). Customer service was friendly and I thought prices were reasonable. Can't wait to try the burritos and nachos next time. Oh and the horchata!

Really enjoy Sugar Taco esp for being vegan! I got the bowl this time but have gotten the burrito in the past and it was delicious. With the right flavors, would anyone know it's vegan? Maybe not, minus the texture. I got the Bowl with Carne Asada (seitan). I will say the marination was a TAD sweet for me but when mixing it in the bowl, it dissipated more and was less obvious. It's not a huge portion but for the size, I believe it makes sense. Next time, I will have to try their pescado protein and their churro donut. At certain times of the day, parking can be quite difficult. It's quite populated on Ventura Blvd at lunch/dinner time, as you can imagine. I suggest parking in the residential if you can, but even that gets hard.

I really love this place and all they offer! First off, the decor and colors are super cute. It gives a very fun and inviting feel to the place that I love. Theres a lot of seating which is great. They're also dog friendly! The menu is exactly what you would expect - from tacos, to burritos, to fries and margaritas there's something for everyone. I'm a very very picky eater and this is my FAVORITE place for Mexican food. I personally DIE for their quesadilla. This is the ONLY vegan spot I get a quesadilla at and what makes them stand out is their cheese (made in house, duh). It melts, it's stretchy and it's delicious (something that can't be said for all vegan cheeses)! Every time I've been I've tried something different but I always get the quesadilla. I love the nachos too but you can't go wrong really. My husband isn't vegan and he loved it. That says A LOT. I can always get him to come here! While parking can be difficult, if we're able to find a spot we dine here pretty often. I love that Sugar Taco was founded by the coolest and most inspiring women. If you're looking for good Mexican food (notice I didn't say vegan, because who cares?!) this is the place to go. I also noticed some customers left 1/5 star reviews for random things (like not having soap in the bathroom....), so just ignore those reviews. TRY THIS PLACE!!! Shop small - these guys are making big changes with their food. Will definitely be back!

It's taco time at sugar taco and they have quite the variety to choose from. Street style tacos you can have a la carte or as a combo with rice and beans. Just note, this place is strictly vegan so don't think you'll be eating actual carnitas, it's actually marinated jackfruit (I will say its on the sweeter side for my liking). My favorite is the pollo made from soybeans, the flavor and texture are spot on and they don't overload you on the salsa that's added onto it. The street corn they have is one of my favorite sides as well as the horchata drink. As you're on Ventura Blvd this place has bright orange and pink walls. It's street meter parking only but you can usually find parking in the neighborhoods that'll lead you into a short walk. They have indoor seating as well as a small patio outside. You place your order up front and they'll bring the food to you when it's ready. Staff is always friendly and the food is always delicious!

This is getting 5 stars mostly because of the donuts. The rest of the food is great, don't get me wrong. But the first time I tried the churro donut I thought, "This is one of the best donuts I've ever had!" And I said as much to friends when I ordered it to our house once. It was not as good. Neither was the food! But I just went again and had their Halloween donut and again was struck by its magnificence. Truly amazing. (The addition of the glaze was a 10/10 idea somebody needs a raise. Really scratches that Krispy Kreme itch.) I think it's just one of those things - much better at the restaurant than ordered to-go. Don't get the ghost pepper taco unless you hate yourself (or are a fan of burning-lead-ball-in-stomach sensations). The f*ck me up guac is really spicy, too. Bring ur doggo - they will be confused but delighted by getting to eat with the humans. (FYI the fish is a bit tofu-y, not v dense or fishy.)

Still love Sugar Taco! My coworkers and I love meeting up here after work and enjoying dinner together. The staff is super kind and accommodating and it's really easy to order together or individually using the QR code. The food is always a hit with both vegans and non-vegans. Also I love that they have both indoor and outdoor seating. They play great music, too!

Really loved the food at Sugar Taco. They have so mami choices. I would suggest getting the 3-taco entree, and picking different ingredients for each of the 3 tacos. This way, you can get a sampling of many of the items they offer here. They have outdoor and indoor seating. They even have an area for kids to play in. The decor is pretty, and has Mexican elements on the walls. Very pink. The staff is very nice and polite and helpful. They do go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and babe everything. They're also cognizant of wait times. My order took them a bit longer than they had anticipated, and so they offered me a free drink as a peace offering. I can't wait to go back here and try more things.

This restaurant is blowing my mind!! VEGAN Mexican food!! So unique and tasty no doubt. Today we visited the Sherman Oaks location, descent hispanic decorations outside and the indoor dining area, very colorful and welcoming. Waitress are friendly and attentive for the experience, there are so many good stuffs on the menu and it took me a while to get my orders done. 3 Taco Plate: * Pollo (soybean) * Carnitas (jackfruit) * Carne Asada (seiyan) Nachos (half order): * Tortilla chips, plant protein of your choice, queso, black beans, pico de gallo salsa. Quesadilla (half order): * Flour tortilla, house made nut-free cheese, option to add plant based protein Aguas frescas: * Horchata * Watermelon juice Still can't believe all these deliciousness are plant-based, they taste so flavorful, fresh, and authentic.
